“Cultural differences create a fertile ground for collaboration”: Israel and Japan explore joint innovation in healthcare

At Calcalist’s Israel–Japan conference in Tokyo, Dr. Leor Perl and senior Israeli and Japanese leaders discussed how Israeli creativity and Japanese precision can merge to solve aging-population challenges, accelerate medical innovation, and drive cross-border investment.

During a panel on healthcare innovation, Dr. Leor Perl, Chief Innovation Officer at Beilinson Hospital, emphasized that the contrasting strengths of Israel and Japan — rapid creativity on one side and meticulous engineering on the other — make for a uniquely powerful partnership. The discussion highlighted opportunities in remote monitoring, AI-driven solutions for aging populations, and increased bilateral investment, with experts agreeing that embracing cultural differences is key to unlocking breakthrough medical technologies. Dr. Perl concluded that Israeli imagination combined with Japanese execution “sets no limits” on what the two nations can achieve together.
